NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland.–America is winning again.

That is one of the many statements Vice President Mike Pence made at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland Friday.

“Unemployment has hit a 50-year low and more Americans are working today than ever before in the history of this country. We cut taxes across the board for working Americans. Businesses large and small have created 5.3 million new jobs including over 480,000 good paying manufacturing jobs that the other side (Democrats) said would never come back,” Pence said.

He said President Trump has has cut more red tape than any previous administration.

When he addressed the issue of illegal immigration, he was greeted with chants of “Build that wall! Build that wall!” from conservatives in attendance.

“Oh, we’re gonna build it. Every day we don’t secure our border, we allow our country to worsen, more lives to be in danger, more people to be exploited, and more drugs to flow into our country,” Pence said.

He reiterated that Trump was right when he called the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border a national emergency.  He vowed that a wall will be constructed, “before we’re done.”  Under the declaration, Trump hopes to divert Defense Department funds to help construct the wall.  The President’s declaration is being challenged by 16 states in federal court.

Pence said he stands with Trump in helping military veterans. He said the Trump administration is holding the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable.

“We’ve restored accountability to the VA. We’re finally giving our heroes access to the world class healthcare that they earned in the uniform. United States veteran’s choice is here,”

Coming up, Pence will be the keynote speaker at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia May 11.
