SafeWise has released its 2019 list highlighting the 20 safest cities in Indiana.
Just like last year’s report, St. John came in the number one spot, with only two violent crimes ever reported. But St. John shouldn’t be the only city that gets a gold star. In fact, all the cities on the SafeWise report have violent crime rates 3.5x lower than the national average and 4.5x lower than the state average. But, Indiana as a whole, doesn’t have those kind of numbers. Instead, it has a higher property and violent crime rate than the national rate: 32.55 incidents per 1,000 people vs 27.11.
During SafeWise’s analysis, they found some pretty interesting things:
In the State of Safety study, Indiana ranked violent crime as its biggest concern. Which may be a little head tilting considering the top 20 safest cities reported only six total murders. 70{be98f16254b36a744f545e63909ce016dd85feb5d217353bac18b3845f1005b1} reported zero.
