THORNTOWN, Ind.--A 5-year-old girl in Boone County has died from meningitis.
The Lebanon Reporter says Madison Veach died a week ago at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Doctors don’t know where she got sick.
Veach went to Thorntown Elementary School. Her funeral is Saturday March 16 in Lebanon.
Nobody else is believed to be infected with meningitis in the area, but the health department gave medication to a few people as a precaution.
Meningitis spreads through bodily fluids. People can carry it without showing any symptoms.
