Hamilton vs. Burr… Hatfields vs. McCoys… Trump vs. McCain…

Some feuds stand the test of time.

Others, however, are increasingly ridiculous and pathetic – especially when one of the parties involved in the feud has been dead for nearly a year.

From CNN:

President Donald Trump again attacked late Sen. John McCain Saturday — prompting the Arizona Republican’s daughter Meghan McCain to respond that “no one will ever love” Trump the way they loved her father.

Trump’s recent attack on McCain, who passed away in August, is the latest in his years-long offensive feud against the late senator, this time targeting McCain’s ties to the controversial Russia dossier and his vote against repealing Obamacare.

“Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier ‘is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain,’” Trump tweeted, quoting Ken Starr, the independent counsel who investigated then-President Bill Clinton.

Starr called the dossier “a very dark stain” against McCain in an interview Saturday on Fox News, but also called McCain “a great man” and “an American hero.”

WIBC host Tony Katz is asking why President Trump continues to dwell on his feud with McCain now that the late Senator has been deceased for nearly a year.

Katz:

“He can’t get past it and it’s very, very strange. Listen, I think it’s very okay to not be okay with John McCain, but I simply do not understand why the President continues to go down this road.

Again, there is nothing wrong with pointing out McCain’s failures, but Trump can’t let go of things and he should. But don’t think that the media is in love with John McCain; they’re not. He’s useful to them. They should be honest.”
