INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indy police say a man wanted for his wife’s murder tried to take his own life when confronted by police.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says 62-year-old Floyd Jones shot himself Monday morning after officers found him outside a house on West Morris Street and tried to get him to surrender peacefully.

Several minutes later, he shot himself. Jones is in the hospital in critical condition.

Jones was wanted for the murder of his wife, 52-year-old Deedee Jones. Her body was found Thursday by police during a welfare check at a house on South Concord Street.
