MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — A date has been set in the trial of Martinsville police chief Matthew Long, who is charged with theft and official misconduct.

Long is accused of manipulating a payroll system in order to give himself more hours of sick leave than he had actually accrued. He has denied these claims.

Court documents show that in 2016 and 2017, Long added 142 hours to his sick bank. For those hours, he received additional sick days and $1,530 in pay.

His jury trial is set to begin Friday, Nov. 8.
