Freshman Representative and intellectual giant Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is speaking out in support of the treatment of veterans by the Department of Veterans Affairs during a town hall event in her district last week.
According to Ocasio-Cortez, privatization of the VA will not help veterans because of the “for-profit healthcare industry.”
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Ocasio-Cortez said, insisting the VA provides “some of the highest quality” healthcare for veterans. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez insisted that those who advocate for a privatized VA are only trying to fix it in favor of pharmaceutical companies.
WIBC host Tony Katz challenged Ocasio-Cortez’s assertions in Wednesday’s edition of the Popcorn Moment:
“You know it’s broken, I know it’s broken. We know that the former VA Secretary under Obama resigned because VA hospitals in Arizona had two sets of books: a list of appointments they said they had with veterans and a list of appointments they actually had with veterans. Why? Because they weren’t seeing the veterans. They lied about seeing certain people and engaging in certain activities. In the meantime, veterans died.”
