Vice President Mike Pence told graduates in his commencement address at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA to expect to persecution and ridicule for their Christian beliefs.

“Some of the loudest voices for tolerance today have little tolerance for traditional Christian beliefs,” the Vice President warned, according to the Washington Times. “So as you go about your daily life, just be ready.”

Pence pointed to a “bevy of Hollywood liberals” who’ve been waging a boycott effort against the state of Georgia, whose Republican Governor, Brian Kemp, recently signed a strict pro-life “heartbeat” abortion bill into law.

“Throughout most of American history, it’s been pretty easy to call yourself Christian,” Pence told the gathering, according to USA Today. “It didn’t even occur to people that you might be shunned or ridiculed for defending the teachings of the Bible.”

Hammer and Nigel discussed the Vice President’s comments on Monday’s show.

Hammer:

“I’m okay with those statements, but I knew as soon as he said it, he was going to get push back about Donald Trump. Now, I’m not always on team Pence. Mike Pence in the past has talked about Iran preparing a new Holocaust. But I think he’s talking about hypocrisy when he said that the people who act like they’re tolerant will be the first ones to give you crap. But you gotta pump the brakes a little bit when you work for Donald Trump and you’ve compared things to the Holocaust.”

Nigel:

“I will say that Christians across the globe are being persecuted. North Korea, Afghanistan, Yemen, Nigeria all have a violent history against Christians.”
