INDIANAPOLIS — The father of an 8-year-old girl who was shot and killed in March could spend the next few decades behind bars if convicted on all charges related to her death.

Kendall Brye, 40, made his initial court appearance Wednesday.

He’s charged with neglect in the shooting death of his daughter, Kendrielle Brye. Court records show he is also charged with drug possession, violation of a home detention order, and illegal gun possession.

Kendrielle Brye was shot March 24 and taken to an Indianapolis fire station for help. The girl was transported to Riley Hospital for Children, where she died.

The girl’s mother, Tiffany White, is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

IMPD is investigating Kendrielle Brye’s death as a homicide.

Kendall Brye’s jury trial is set to begin June 24.
