‘Game of Thrones’ fans are hopping mad and demanding that the entire final season of the hit HBO series be remade.
As of Thursday afternoon a Change.org petition titled “Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers.” had managed to secure nearly 472,000 signatures.
“[Showrunners] David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” according to the petition. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
According to CNN, “the goal is to gather 500,000 signatures of people dissatisfied with how the eighth and final season of the show is playing out.”
WIBC host Tony Katz commented on fans’ outrage Thursday morning.
“Nearly 500,000 have signed this petition! It’s a television show; don’t watch it. This is a show where the fans are beyond die hards, they’re crazed! They know the landscape, they know the connections, they’re putting together the family connections.
500,000 people… Now I will say this, there are many problems with this season, but I’m not going to get into them now. Sunday is the final episode. I’m going to give it 48 hours after the episode airs and then we are going to let loose on this show.”
