BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A man from Indianapolis is charged with endangering the welfare of a dozen Indiana children.
Shawn Floyd, 54, is accused of forcing twelve children from Indiana to sell candy for his profit in Kentucky, according to Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear.
Investigators said Floyd also forced the children to share a hotel room with three adults and buy their meals and water, reported WEVV-TV in Evansville.
The youngest of the children was 11. Kentucky labor law requires workers to be at least 14-years-old.
Floyd was arrested July 12 in Bowling Green, Ky. The children were placed in protective custody.
Floyd is charged with 12 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and one misdemeanor charge for failing to keep a prescribed controlled substance in its original container.
