JAMESTOWN, Ind. — A five-year-old girl is dead and another girl is in the hospital after falling into a pond in Boone County.

The Indiana DNR said Wednesday they were sent to a home about six miles northwest of Jamestown along West County Road 500 South just before noon. When they got there they found the parents performing CPR on Arianna Aliff and her sister.

Aliff was pronounced dead but the other three-year-old girl, who’s name is not being released yet, was rushed to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. The little girl is in critical condition.

The DNR and the Indiana Department of Child Services are investigating the drowning along with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

They said the parents of the two girls are licensed foster parents with four biological children, two adopted children, and two foster children. The three-year-old girl at Riley Hospital is one of those foster children, investigators said.
