GREENVILLE, N.C. — President Trump is slamming South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg as he campaigns for re-election in 2020.

At a rally in Greenville, North Carolina last night, the President said Buttigieg “runs a failed city” and doubted his ability to lead.

“I don’t see him dealing with President Xi of China,” Trump said. “I don’t see him meeting successfully with Kim Jong-Un. I don’t see him dealing, and no one has been tougher on Russia than Donald Trump, I don’t see him dealing with Vladimir Putin.”

Trump honed in on the controversial shooting of a black man by a white police officer in South Bend last month. Police and members of the community have criticized Buttigieg for his response to the shooting.

“African-Americans, literally, were so angry at him for the lousy job,” Trump continued. “He’s supposed to be a hot, young star. If he’s a hot, young star, I guess I just don’t know stardom anymore.”

Trump told the crowd he asked Vice President Mike Pence’s opinion of Buttigieg.

“Mike Pence was the governor of that state (Indiana),” the president said. “I said ‘how is he as the mayor?’, and Mike said he never did a good job ‘I’m so shocked to see him running’.”

Buttigieg will be speaking at the Young Democrats of America conference tonight in Indianapolis.
