WASHINGTON — The U.S. House has rejected articles of impeachment against President Trump.
The articles were brought forth by Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green this week. Green brought the proposal forward in the aftermath of the president’s controversial tweets against four Democrat congresswomen, which the House condemned in a resolution passed Tuesday night.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the tweets racist on the House floor. She pushed back against the articles of impeachment said House committees are continuing aggressive investigations of the President and his administration for now.
“We have six committees that are working on following the facts in terms of any abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and the rest that the president may have engaged in,” Pelosi said Wednesday before the vote. “I don’t know what we will do, but we will deal with it on the floor.”
The House ended up voting in a bipartisan manner to kill the articles of impeachment, the final tally being 332-95. All 95 representatives voting against killing the proposal were Democrats, including Indiana’s Andre Carson.
Indiana’s other Democrat representative, Rep. Pete Visclosky, voted in favor of killing the measure.
