You know that whole “Fight for $15” movement that’s designed to give all workers a living wage? Well, it turns out $15 per hour was just an initial offer. Turns out workers are going to need $20 per hour – even that guy at McDonald’s who always gets your order wrong and looks like he hasn’t bathed in six months.

Congressman and squadling Rashida Tlaib called for a federal minimum wage of $20 per hour at an event in Detroit on Sunday night, prompting mockery from anyone who has ever taken a basic course in economics.

Tlaib’s comment came during remarks to the Restaurant Opportunities Center of Michigan and the labor rights group One Fair Wage.

Fun Fact: The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed a $15 federal minimum wage bill last week, but it has little chance of passing in the Senate because:

  1. The GOP controls the Senate.
  2. The GOP (rational thinkers) understand that forcing employers in small towns to pay $15 per hour will result in massive layoffs and a rise in unemployment.

Tlaib also noted during her drivel-laced speech that “tipped employees make $2.13 per hour, federally.”

Fun Fact: Tipped employees who don’t suck at their job make WELL over $2.13 per hour (Because they like work on tips and stuff).

“Think about that for one minute. People cannot live on those kind of wages, and I can’t allow people to be living off tips, you know, relying on tips for wages. It’s just not enough to support our families. … By the way, when we started it, it should have been $15,” she said at the event, titled “Server for an Hour.”

Fun Fact: Rep. Tlaib does not understand economics.
