GILROY, Calif. — Four people, including the shooter, are dead after a shooting Sunday at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Gilroy, Calif.

The suspect in the shooting is 19-year-old Santino William Legan, said Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee.

Smithee said Legan used an AK-47 type rifle that was purchased legally in Nevada on July 9.

A six-year-old boy, 13-year-old girl and a man in his 20s all died in the shooting and at least a dozen people were injured.

Legan was shot and killed by police several minutes after the shooting began.

Chief Smithee says they are still investigating a motive in the shooting and the FBI is assisting.

Gilroy Mayor Roland Velasco says members of his community are strong, resilient and in mourning, but they will get through it.
