CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel wants to expand its ban on scooters and skateboards.

The Carmel City Council will meet Monday night to introduce an ordinance that would add Carmel Midtown, the Arts & Design District, and parking garages to the list of places where scooters and skateboards aren’t allowed, according to Current in Carmel.

The expanded ban would also prohibit skateboards and scooters in Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation parks except on greenways, trails, multi-use paths, and skate parks.

Skateboarding is already banned in areas including Carmel City Center, Carmel Civic Square, the Carmel Veteran’s Memorial, and Rotary Plaza.
