KOKOMO, Ind.–The public is invited to pay their respects to a State Trooper who was killed in a crash Friday night.

Visitation for Trooper Peter Stephan will be Thursday at Crossroads Community Church in Kokomo from 2 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service is set for Friday, October 18 at 11 am at Crossroads Community Church. The burial will follow the funeral service at the Russiaville Cemetery.

“People can send cards. We have a memorial car parked out in front of the state police post on State Road 43. They can drop off flowers or say a prayer,” said Lafayette District Public Information Officer Kim Riley.

Riley said the procession from the Crossroads Community Church to the Russiaville Cemetery will travel north on State Road 931, west on State Road 26 and north on County Road 775W to the cemetery. He encourages the public to line the procession route if you’d like to show support for Stephan and his family.

Riley says Stephan was a trooper who was always responsible.

“He was one of those troopers that never complained. He worked hard. He answered his calls. He did what he had to do to do the job for the state of Indiana. He would do it to the best of his ability,” Riley said.

Riley said Stephan was on his way to assist another trooper at the time of the crash.

“He was trying to get there as quickly as possible and just lost control, the car rolled, and unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries from the crash,” Stephan said.
