My eyes are bleeding, and not in a Chitulu kind of way. I’ve wrapped my head in gauze so I’m unable to find the comprehensive list of ramp closures and lane restrictions for this weekend. This is good, because honestly, I didn’t know there was this much interstate in Indianapolis, or ramp. It’s a great time to launch my “stop building roads” campaign. If there are no roads, there can’t be ramps to fix. We return to state of nature. Piggy has the conch.

Before we get to the impressive amount of weekend road work in the Circle City, including the many east side ramps that are closing, we address another problematic lane restriction on I-70 that could slow down the decent people of Hancock Co. on their way to the carnival:
FILTHY I-70
This week, the construction was on the eastbound (outbound) side of I-70, from Indianapolis past Mt. Comfort Rd. That’s all done. Next week, the westbound (inbound) lanes get their maintenance makeover. Starting Friday night (10/18) at 9pm, the right lane on westbound I-70 will be closed from Fortville Pike (west of Greenfield/S.R. 9) to Mt. Comfort Rd.
This could absolutely trash morning rush for those heading into the metro from Hancock Co., as it did for drivers during evening rush this week. Traffic was often stopped going east because of people merging into the left lane.
There are several ways to reroute, with the obvious being U.S. 40 into Indy.
Plan ahead. This will be joyless.

Ramp Closures – East Side and South Side
Let’s get it on! So many delicious ramps to close! Did I mention the east side? Take a look at this fancy map (in color)!
Not ignoring the obligatory I-65 ramp closure, the I-74/I-465 interchange on the east side is a real peach, and Lawrence drivers will have to use the I-70 ramps or city streets for a trip to say… Fishers:

Ramp Closures – North Side
On the north side, access from I-465 to I-865 (and vice versa) is restricted during certain times this weekend, and northeast side drivers heading west are shutdown at Allisonville Rd. and Keystone:
- Eastbound I-865 to Eastbound I-465
Sunday 6pm to Monday 6am
- Allisonville Rd. to Westbound I-465
Friday 8pm to Monday 6am
- Keystone Ave. to AND from Westbound I-465
Friday 8pm to Monday 6am
Lane Restrictions

That’s quite a section of road work on westbound I-465 on the north side (essentially from the White River to I-865). Also, south siders, you have real mess going north AND south from Southport Rd. to I-465. Only one lane of travel, which means U.S. 31 time, or another preferred alternate route.
