MUNCIE, Ind. — The man that died in a boating accident in Delaware County on Sunday morning has been identified.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says 71-year-old Lenard Anderson of Muncie was pulled from Prairie Creek Reservoir around 10:40 a.m. When responders arrived, witnesses were performing CPR, but efforts were unsuccessful. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Anderson may have had a medical emergency before the boat he was operating collided with another boat. Anderson was not wearing a life jacket, the DNR said.

Conservation officers had to use a throw rope to disable Anderson’s boat, which was going around in circles on the reservoir.

The accident remains under investigation.
