UPDATE:  Grant County investigators have identified the man found in the burning truck.  They have identified it as 26-year-old Jeremy Overla.

GRANT COUNTY, Ind.–A body found in a burning pickup truck Friday in Grant County has led to a murder charge being filed against a man from Blackford County.

Police say they received a call about a truck being on fire near County Road 1125 South on Wheeling Pike and later found a body inside the truck at about 10 Friday morning.

Investigators say the body was burned “beyond recognition” and learned the truck belonged to a missing person reported out of Hartford City.

Grant County investigators said they brought Don Lamley, 49, of Blackford County in for an interview.

During the interview, police say Lamley implicated himself in the murder and attempted to hide the crime by trying to destroy the evidence in Grant County.

Lamley was arrested by deputies with the Blackford County Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Blackford County Jail.

The case has been turned over to the Blackford County Prosecutor’s Office.
