INDIANAPOLIS A man died in a crash Monday night on the far east side of Indianapolis after a police pursuit that began in Henry County, according to Indiana State Police.

The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. at East Washington Street and Mitthoefer Road. The man, not yet identified, was one of four people in a maroon sedan that collided with two other vehicles. Three others in the sedan were taken to the hospital. People in the other vehicles had minor injuries.

State police said the pursuit started after a traffic stop attempt in Henry County. Troopers ended the chase after the car exited I-70 at Post Road, but the sedan kept going until it crashed.

Police found weapons at the scene. The man’s body remained in the street for several hours before the coroner arrived. IMPD said the area would be closed for several hours.
