COLUMBUS, Ind. — Three people in Columbus have been arrested after shots were fired at an apartment early Thursday morning.

According to Lt. Matt Harris from the Columbus Police Department, it happened at the Charleston Place Apartments.

Officers arrived to find bullet holes in two apartments and began evacuating residents when they made contact with Papa Sylla.

Sylla told officers that several masked men tried pushing their way into his apartment when shots were fired into his door. He said no one in his apartment was hurt.

Officers began searching Sylla’s apartment and found hundreds of THC vape cartridges, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, and more than $13,000 in cash.

Sylla and another man, Alhadj Diaw, face charges for dealing and possessing marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.

A third person, Kedisha Brown, faces charges of visiting a common nuisance.

Lt. Harris says they have been dealing with more calls like this, and continues to be surprised by the violence surrounding marijuana deals.

Columbus police are still investigating and looking for the masked men that fired the shots into the apartment.
