The Republican, Democrat, and Libertarian candidates for mayor of Indianapolis squared off in one final debate last night.

The discussion, hosted by FOX 59 and West Side Chamber of Commerce, focussed heavily on crime and roads. Incumbent Democrat Mayor Joe Hogsett said “we are making progress” on crime, but did acknowledge the increasing homicide rate over the last three years. Republican State Senator Jim Merritt, however, said he’s not impressed by the numbers or IMPD Chief Bryan Roach. Merritt reiterated his plan to increase the number of police officers in the city and to install a new police chief.

Voters cast their ballots for Mayor on November 5th.

State Senator Merritt dropped by the WIBC studios Tuesday morning to speak with Tony Katz and make his final case with Indianapolis voters.
