PORTLAND, Ind. — A man is accused of trying to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Chad Jackson was talking with a person online he believed was a 13-year-old, but really it was a Jay County sheriff’s deputy.
He messaged the undercover deputy on Oct. 19 through Oct. 21 and made plans to meet at a Portland convenience store on Oct. 21.
The Muncie Star Press reports that Jackson messaged about his plans to have sex with the girl, and said he would give the girl marijuana.
When he was arrested outside the convenience store, investigators said he had both meth and marijuana in his car. He also tried to tell the deputies that even though he came to the planned meeting place, he had decided not to have sex with the girl.
Jackson has been charged with child solicitation, possession of meth and possession of marijuana, said the Star Press.
He’s currently being held in the Jay County jail under a $20,000 bond.
