Rain Returns to Indiana This Week With Flooding Concerns

INDIANAPOLIS –Rain is expected this week, but it will not be as intense as last week. The National Weather Service forecasts a few thunderstorms, though no severe threats are anticipated.
Flooding remains a concern in southern Indiana, with several counties under Areal Flood Warnings. Drivers in affected areas should exercise caution, as some roads may still be flooded.
“We still have quite a few rivers in moderate to major flood stage across Central and South Central Indiana,” said Cody Moore at the National Weather Service. “Those rivers are going to start to crest over the next couple days and then slowly recede. We are still getting a lot of reports of flooding everywhere.”
Overnight into Wednesday morning, the weather will stay dry, but clouds will increase. A system moving through the Midwest will bring showers by late Wednesday morning, with coverage expanding by the afternoon and evening.
While a brief wintry mix is possible when showers first arrive, central Indiana will mostly see rain as temperatures reach near 50 degrees. Rain chances will continue Wednesday night into Thursday, with up to half an inch expected in northern central Indiana. Totals will be lighter to the south.
