INDIANAPOLIS — One person is in critical condition and four others are in the hospital after a police chase ended with a crash.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the chase started around 5:45 p.m. on Friday and ended near Emerson and 30th Street.

Police were chasing a stolen car, and when they tried to pull the car over the car took off. 

During the chase, someone inside the car threw a gun out of it.

The chase ended when the driver of the stolen car didn’t yield to a stoplight and hit another car passing through the intersection.

The driver of the stolen car was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The rest were taken to the hospital, two with serious injuries, and one with minor injuries. 

The driver of the other car also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
