INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a shooting on the city’s east side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Police were called to the 3700 block of East Market Street just before midnight on Sunday, Nov. 17. Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area.

After arriving on the scene, a man, who was unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds, was located. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

That shooting happened only a few hours after a person was shot to death on the city’s far west side. 

Officers were called to a home along Staton Place East Drive, near West 10th Street and Country Club Road, around 10:15 p.m. Sunday on a report of a person shot.

After arriving on the scene, the male victim was located, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The male was initially in critical condition, police said, but was pronounced deceased at the scene.
