Thanksgiving morning, while some of you are preparing your Thanksgiving feast, more than 3,000 runners and walkers will be participating in the “BOLT FOR THE HEART 5K“.

Bolt For The Heart has raised nearly $900,000 and donated over 600 AED’s in the Central Indiana area, as well as placed many AEDs in organizations and facilities.  President Pierre Twer introduced us to JEANNE JOHNSON who explained why “BOLT FOR THE HEART 5K” is so important to her.

In April, Jeanne was attending a fitness class at Orange Theaory where her daughter was an instructor.  It wasn’t Jeanne’s first class, but it would be her most memorable.  The last thing she does remember, is sitting down at the rowing machine.

Jeanne was in Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  An AED shocked her heart back to life.  Thanks to the quick response of those around her, and an AED in such close proximity to where she was…JEANNE JOHNSON will walk in her 4th BOLT FOR THE HEART 5K!

The organization has met their goal in placed 550 AED’s in Indiana State Police vehicles.  Next goal?  Buying lifesaving AED’s for every Law Enforcement Officer’s vehicle in Hamilton County.

See you Thanksgiving morning at BOLT FOR THE HEART 5K, beginning at the Palladium in Carmel.   Click HERE to register for this year’s walk.
