STATEWIDE — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources wants you to “opt outside” on Black Friday.

Instead of curling up in front of the TV or hitting the mall, you can get into Indiana DNR properties for free on Friday, Nov. 29. Included are state parks and forests, reservoirs, fish & wildlife areas, nature preserves, and off-roading areas.

You can also enjoy 20{a19b272382e43567b93d81f78cecbca1de1bd20e733811fd76565cd2f1d1cf89} off meals at state park inns.

Indiana DNR is also offering park-goers the chance to win prizes by submitting Black Friday outdoor photos on Instagram and DNR Facebook using the hashtag #OptsOutsideIN19.

Prizes include:

  • DNR 2020 annual entrance passes
  • DNR permits (horse tag, off-road cycling permit, lake permits)
  • Outdoor Indiana subscriptions
  • An off-road riding tour for three at Interlake State Recreation Area (SRA) or Redbird SRA
  • A rod and reel
  • Two nights of free camping at J.E. Roush Lake Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA)
  • Two nights of camping at a state park (tent, other basic equipment, and fixings for one camp meal provided)
  • A guided night hike with an interpretive naturalist for a group of up to 15

Indiana DNR is also running contests for people who camp or stay at an inn and for those who complete a scavenger hunt. Click here for more information about those contests.
