VIGO COUNTY, Ind.–She was driving with a blood alcohol content nearly five times the legal limit, got into an accident, and is now in jail.
That’s what state police say happened to a woman from Fillmore Wednesday afternoon. They say Regina R. Ames, 59, was driving a 2013 GMC onto State Road 641 South from McDaniel Road when she went off the road into the berm and hit a guardrail.
Ames kept going for another 175 feet until her GMC became disabled. When police got there, they say they learned that Ames was impaired and found out she had a blood alcohol content of .36{342d4ff9325a28dcb7f2c75b24c2a469a7c28c0aebd22d83bf56550a2655925a}.
Ames had minor injuries, so she was taken to a hospital. Once she was medically cleared, Ames was arrested and taken to the Vigo County Jail.
The charges against Ames are as follows:
- Operating a vehicle with a BAC .15 or more (class A misdemeanor)
- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person (class C misdemeanor)
