GREENCASTLE, Ind.–A man with several warrants out for his arrest ran away from police in Putnam County Wednesday afternoon. Police are still looking for him.

Detectives were trying to find Jeffrey Brown, 41, on warrants out of both Clay and Putnam Counties when he was seen at a parking lot in Greencastle around noon. Officers say Brown saw them and drove off in his pickup truck, which began a chase on various city and county roads.

Brown crashed his truck at a train bridge on CR 400 West, so he stole a truck from a company that was working on the bridge, investigators say.

He kept on driving in that truck and eventually stopped near the Croy Creek Church in southwestern Putnam County and got out. Then he ran away.

Police set up a perimeter and searched for several hours with K-9s and an Indiana State Police helicopter, but could not find Brown.

Brown is a 6’4″, 195-pound white man with brown hair and a tattoo on his neck. He is considered armed and dangerous.

If you know where he is, you should call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department at 765-653-3211 or your local police department.
