INDIANAPOLIS--A person was killed in what police are calling a hit-and-run accident on the south side of Indianapolis.

IMPD Public Affairs Officer Genae Cook says it happened near State Road 135 and Thompson Road just after 7 Thursday night.

“When police arrived, they observed that a male was down in the street. Information from the witnesses and evidence seen at that time indicated that this was a possible hit-and-run,” Cook said.

Hit-and-run detectives were called to the scene.

“They immediately began their investigation. Sometimes this takes several hours,” Cook said.

Police think the driver who killed the man was in a Honda Pilot. Cook says the model year on that car could range anywhere from 2003 to 2008.

“We believe it’s dark in color. This vehicle is believed to have possible front end damage near the grill area and possibly a broken a windshield,” Cook said. “Someone out there has seen this vehicle.”

Cook says if you have any information about this incident, you should call the IMPD Crash Investigation Office at 317-327-6549 or Crimestoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477 (TIPS).
