INDIANAPOLIS — A man has pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of two Indianapolis police officers.

Ryan McGill pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of attempted murder and one count of armed robbery.

On Jan. 15, 2018, McGill was the passenger in a car that was pulled over by police. The driver put her hands up and surrendered. McGill got out of the passenger side of the car and started shooting, firing 17 shots at the officers and a squad car. At least three gunshots went through the front windshield of the squad car.

Neither officer fired at McGill. Both were unhurt.

McGill got back in the car and drove to the 1800 block of West Morris Street, where he carjacked a woman. Officers were able to track McGill using the victim’s tablet, which was left in the stolen car.

SWAT officers found McGill inside a home on South Belmont Street. McGill was arrested on Jan. 16, 2018 and taken to the Marion County  Jail.

Sentencing for McGill is scheduled for Feb. 14.
