GREENWOOD, Ind. — Greenwood now has a Safe Haven Baby Box.

The baby box was installed at the White River Township Fire Station on North Morgantown Road. It became available to the public on Friday.

Indiana now has more than twenty Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

Indiana’s Safe Haven law allows parents to surrender a healthy newborn 30 days old or younger without fear of criminal prosecution. The Safe Haven baby box provides a warm, safe place where parents can surrender their babies anonymously.

In 2019, Indiana had nine babies surrendered as a result of parents calling the Safe Haven Baby Boxes National Hotline (1-866-99BABY1) or through the use of a Safe Haven Baby Box.
