INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed Monday morning on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

Indy Metro Police say the shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. at the Rowney Terrace Apartments on Riley Place, near Emerson Avenue. That’s just north of Beech Grove.

IMPD says the man was shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He later died.

IMPD Public Information Officer Aaron Hamer says this is already the 20th homicide in Indianapolis in 2020.

“It’s concerning, and very disappointing,” Hamer said. “There’s a lot of ways we can handle disagreements in the city, but we have a lot of individuals who turn to violence, and it’s very disheartening.”

Hamer said a woman was being questioned, but no one has been arrested for the shooting. Police did not immediately say what the connection between the woman and the man is.
