MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — A corrections officer in Morgan County is now out of a job, after he was charged with battering an inmate earlier this week.

Police say Jacob Ewert got into some type of “altercation” with an inmate earlier this month, after which he was eventually fired and charged with battery and official misconduct.

The incident apparently caused the inmate some injuries.

Ewert is expected to go on trial in July. He had been with the Morgan County Jail for seven years.
