INDIANAPOLIS— There is one more day of cold before seasonable weather returns. The National Weather Service says an Arctic air mass from Canada and Alaska has kept Indiana in a deep freeze with subzero temperatures for several days

“We’ve got another day of cold weather so that the snow will stick around at least for today,” said forecaster Cody Moore at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. “However, highs will be above freezing tomorrow, so that’s one positive thing about the weather.”

Weekend temperatures will climb into the 30s, bringing more seasonable weather as the new month begins.

“Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we might hit the 40-degree mark and get into the low 40s,” Moore said.

Moore explained that the current weather pattern doesn’t support cooler temperatures because the winds are coming from a different direction.

“This (pattern) supports temperatures at or above normal for this time of year,” he added.

“As we head into February, temperatures will stay at or above normal, with a couple of systems bringing in rain or snow.”
