Hancock County House Fires Kills Man, Injures Others

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — A man has died, and another person and a firefighter were injured in a house fire north of Greenfield.  

Firefighters arrived on South Center Street in Maxwell, Indiana Sunday morning around 12:30 a.m.  

Greenfield Fire Territory says smoke detectors inside the home went off as the fire started, and another person was able to get out of the home, but the man did not. He was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive. The other person and the firefighter were also taken to the hospital from their injuries. The firefighter was later released the same day.  

Firefighters are not sure how the fire started, and they are looking into this.
