BLOOMINGTON, IND —City Council members are eyeing a 115% salary boost, from $21,153 to $45,423, making them the highest-paid in the state.
The proposal has sparked strong opposition, with some council members criticizing the raise during their current term.
Council member Nti Asare opposes the proposal, which would make them the highest-paid city council members in the state if approved.
The salary committee also proposed pay hikes for other officials, including a raise for the clerk to $42,780 and a jump in the mayor’s salary from $138,031 to $151,410.
