JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.–Someone has been throwing rocks and baseballs onto I-65 in Johnson County this month.
On Monday November 25, Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess said they got a report of someone throwing rocks from the overpass at County Roads 250 South and 600 East onto I-65. He says they also got multiple calls including one from a tractor-trailer driver who reported vehicle damage and waiting to get help from Indiana State Police.
“We’ve had two different incidents. We also had another one on November 9,” said Burgess on Tuesday morning.
In that incident, a deputy found a lot of baseballs on the road that had to be removed to ensure the safety of the drivers.
“Somebody has picked up a bad habit. This could be a huge problem and can cause the death of someone out there on the Interstate. We are doing our investigative part to see who we can find responsible for this,” said Burgess.
Burgess says they are trying to talk to people who may have had either baseballs or softballs stolen.
“We’re reaching out to those folks. It’s expensive. Somebody could missing them from a Little League or a school, so we’re reaching out to them and trying to gather as much information as we can,” said Burgess.
