BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The 16th ranked Indiana Hoosier basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with an 87-71 win over South Carolina on Saturday.
The Hoosiers led by as many as 18 points. South Carolina had a 4-0 lead early on, but Indiana scored 17 in a row after that and never trailed again.
The game took on a physical nature, especially in the second half. 32 fouls were called in the second half after there were just 12 in the first half.
Five Hoosiers ended up in double figures with Myles Rice leading the way. He had 23 points while making seven of ten shots. The other players with more than 10 points included Mackenzie Mgbako (17), Malik Reneau (13), Kanaan Carlyle (12), and Trey Galloway (11).
Oumar Ballo scored 7 points, but also snagged 13 rebounds and blocked six shots.
The Hoosiers shot 51% for the game and 82% from the free throw line. They held South Carolina to 38% from the field and 28% from three-point range.
Morris Ugusuk led South Carolina with 18 points. They drop to 2-2 with the loss.
