BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The Indiana Hoosier football team is now 8-0 after beating the Washington Huskies 31-17.

The Hoosiers have still never trailed in a game this year and have also not allowed a point in the first quarter of any game so far. Saturday was no different.

Starting quarterback Kurtis Rourke had to miss Saturday’s game with a thumb injury. Center Grove graduate Tayven Jackson filled in and completed 11 of his 19 passes for 124 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jackson’s two-yard rushing touchdown in the second half made it 31-14 with 8:55 to go.

All Washington could do after that was obtain a field goal.

The Hoosiers ran it for 188 yards and got 123 of those yards from Justice Ellison on 29 carries. He also had a rushing touchdown in the first half.

Indiana’s offensive line did not give up a sack. On defense, they got two interceptions from Deangelo Ponds. Ponds returned his first interception 67 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

The defense also had three sacks and six tackles for loss.

Up next, the Hoosiers play Michigan State at Michigan State on November 2.
