INDIANAPOLIS — Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Micah Beckwith, spoke Friday on WIBC about illegal immigration and support for the state’s Republican gubernatorial ticket.
Beckwith clarified his stance following comments made on WOWO Radio in Fort Wayne, which sparked criticism from Democrats who claimed he was advocating for the deportation of legally residing Haitians in Logansport.
“If they’re abusing our big hearts and open arms, we need to address that,” Beckwith said to WIBC’s Tony Katz. “If you’re here legally, you’re welcome. If not, and you’re abusing the system, we need to find those people and get them out.”
