INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts have now won 2 straight games after beating the Miami Dolphins at home Sunday.
Miami scored the first 10 points of the game thanks to a first quarter touchdown from Jonnu Smith. A field goal with 22 seconds left in the first half is what gave Miami their largest lead of the game.
Indianapolis responded by getting into field goal range the following drive. Matt Gay’s kick from 52 yards out gave the Colts their first points of the game as the clock expired in the second quarter to make it a 10-3 ballgame.
The Colts would tie the game in the third quarter thanks to a 7 yard touchdown rush from Tyler Goodson.
A pair of Matt Gay field goals in the fourth quarter helped Indianapolis finish off the Fins. 16-10 was the final.
The Colts’ defense, which has been the subject of criticism for much of this season, pulled off a shutout in the second half.
Quarterback Anthony Richardson returned to game action from a hip injury this week. The second year quarterback was 10 of 24 with 129 yards through the air. He also ran the ball for 56 yards on 14 attempts. That was good enough to lead the team in rushing.
Michael Pittman led the team in receiving, catching 3 of 5 targets for 63 yards.
The Colts will look to make it three straight wins next weekend on the road against the Houston Texans. It will be the second time the two division rivals meet this year. Houston took the first game in week 1 29-27.
