INDIANAPOLIS — Indy Metro Police are investigating after someone was killed in a crash early Saturday morning.

Officers say a sedan and a moped crashed on East 34th Street shortly before 4 a.m., and the moped driver did not survive. When they found him, he was “unresponsive” with traumatic injuries.

At this time, they believe the car was headed west when it crossed the center line and hit the eastbound moped. Witnesses claimed that the car’s driver then tried to walk away from the scene.

He was soon arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

Police later learned that he was wanted, though they did not provide specific details about the pre-existing warrant for his arrest. They also think he may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

A section of East 34th Street was closed between Massachusetts Avenue and North Elizabeth Street following the crash.
