WASHINGTON–Indiana Republican Congresswoman Victoria Spartz says she has several concerns about both President Biden stepping down and the Secret Service’s response to the assassination attempt on former President Trump July 13 in Pennsylvania.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was questioned Monday about the way her agency responded to the assassination attempt.  Spartz argues that Cheatle should be fired.

“We almost had something potentially that could destabilize our country and really cause a lot of problems with a presidential nominee nearly assassinated. Unbelievable,” said Spartz in a Monday morning interview with WIBC’s Tony Katz and the Morning News.

Spartz said it’s ridiculous that the Secret Service repeatedly denied requests for more security regarding Trump at that rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“It brings up all kinds of questions about leadership, coordination, and staffing,” said Spartz.

As for Biden stepping down, Spartz said invoking the 25th amendment should be strongly considered. It clarifies that the vice president becomes president if the president dies, resigns, or is removed from office through impeachment, and establishes how a vacancy in the office of the vice president can be filled. It also provides for the temporary transfer of the president’s powers and duties to the vice president, either on the initiative of the president alone or on the initiative of the vice president together with a majority of the president’s cabinet.

Not only does Spartz feel that the United States of America is not safe with Biden dropping out, she says the U.S. hasn’t been safe “for a while.”

“He hasn’t been able to govern this country. The Democrats all think they’re so smart and everyone else is so stupid, but unfortunately for them, the people aren’t falling for it. They aren’t believing all these lies. This whole party of democracy is now kicking out the candidate who they were trying to say was great for such a long time. It’s all very unprecedented,” said Spartz.
