INDIANAPOLIS — A man and a woman were arrested for the murder of a cab driver on Saturday.

Around 4:00a.m. on Saturday 10th, IMPD responded to a call of a taxi cab parked with it’s door open for a suspiciously long time on E 11th Street and N New Jersey Street. After arriving, officers found 55-year-old Abdukadir Filanwaa sitting in the drivers seat with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD says that thanks to assistance from the community, the investigation found 30-year-old James Riley and 29-year-old Alysianna Martin as the suspects in the shooting.

On Tuesday, the IMPD’s Violent Crimes Task Force arrested the two suspects without incident for the murder of Filanwaa. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine final charges for them.

That same day a funeral was held by the Indianapolis Muslim Community Association for Filanwaa, who was a muslim Somolian immigrant. He was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
