As thousands continue to cross the southern border, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey continue to send migrants to ‘sanctuary cities.’ The Governors started sending migrants by the bus-load to New York, D.C, and most recently Chicago.

Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington D.C has now declared a city public migrant emergency. During a situational update on migrant support, D.C Council Member Brianne Nadeau joined the mayor. Nadeau was quick to point the blame of the “crisis” to Abbott and Ducey for turning their city into a “border town.”

“So, it’s been said, but it’s worth reiterating, that the governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis. And, the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia… And, in many ways, the governors of Texas and Arizona have turned us into a border town.”

Tony Katz says D.C and other “sanctuary cities” should be held accountable for their choices of ignoring the border crisis.

“The idea that you’re (DC)  a border town is laughable… you’ve taken in 8,000 migrants in a span of four to five months. Eagle Pass, Texas which is a population of 30,000 takes in 10,000 migrants a week. You Washington DC are not a border town…

You created this. You’re part of the problem. You’re part of the magnet, as people talk about, that has illegal immigrants crossing the border and demanding services- because you are giving them services…I love when people have to live with the choices they make because it’s the only way they’ll learn.”

Chicago, New York, and D.C have all stated that this is move by Gov. Abbott and Ducey is creating a humanitarian crisis.
