INDIANAPOLIS — A year later, a man has been arrested for the murder of a woman who was shot and burned to death.

Before she died, Laura Gentry was able to tell police that a man called “OG Wayne” is the one who shot her and set her on fire. IMPD went work with that and during the investigation, IMPD received information about three different men in the area who go by the name “OG Wayne.”

Two of them were ruled out as not having any connection to Gentry or the case.

According to court documents, Dwayne Wright first came up in conversation regarding the investigation in the days following Gentry’s death when an IMPD officer from the southwest district said he was aware of an “OG Wayne” whose real name is Dwayne Wright.

IMPD was able to track down Wright who had fled to Texas after many in the Indianapolis neighborhood of Haughville told police it was Wayne who did it.

Police also had DNA matched to Wayne that was pulled from a bottle of gasoline found at the crime scene. Wayne has been arrested and charged with murder. He’s been in and out of jail more than a dozen times over the last 25 years.
